This Week's Congregational Prayer:
Father God, years ago Paul instructed the Corinthians to eagerly desire spiritual gifts…gifts that were used by us to build others up and bring glory to God. Too often my eager desires revolve around what will build me up and bring me glory: comforts and luxuries, power and prestige…my desires so often revolve around me. Captivate my heart again with a sense of your great glory, that my heart’s desire is to see you praised. Fill my heart again with a love for others, that my heart’s ambition is not to be served, but to be a servant. Give me the mind of Christ, that Christ might be praised through me. Amen.
